One of the First African American babies born in Columbia Hospital for Women, located in the North West section of the Nation’s Capital, Washington, D.C., was no other than Walter Gregory Herndon Sr.
Herndon has lived in the D.C. area all of his life. Most folks know him as Joe Herndon, the rumbling, deep Bass, belting out tunes such as “Old’ Man River” with the legendary, Grammy Award winning singing group, The Temptations. We sat down and had a chat with the Bass Man himself in his home near the D.C. area to get a glimpse of life on the road as a Temptation and how it has impacted his life.
